Jerry "MoonUnit Beckwith"

At 10:07 a.m. on April 4th, 2006, Jerry was relieved of his suffering. Surrounded by his family, he died peacefully at the Solace hospice facility. Jerry's strength, his humor and his infectious joy touched so many of us. In one of his final e-mails, he said "I'm going to miss my greatest blessing here - my friends. You have all been a blessing to me." You were the blessing Jerry. We'll carry your spirit as we paddle clear creeks, while biking down country roads and we'll "look for rainbows EVERYWHERE".

Racers MUST pre-register before 5pm Thursday, April 26th. There will be NO registration on the day of the race. Race will close as soon as 120 kayakers have registered.

Re year. Cyclists interested in participating as a kayak/bike team can email jerrysbaddle@yahoo.com to find out if there are any kayakers looking for teammates. Otherwise, cyclists are welcome to register for the festival and come ride on their own schedule. All rides outside of the race loop will be self-support, and you should plan your distance and start time to be able to return to the festival between 3-5pm. There are several world class rides possible from Wilderness Cove Campground. Green River Cove Road is a beautiful, rolling route along the river with out and back rides up to 20 miles. If you are afraid of the full 25 miles after the initial climb on the race loop, you can cut off about 5 miles around Saluda or cut off the 20 miles out Holbert Cove and back Green River Cove Rds. If you want to ride more than the race loop, there are several +30 mile loops possible by dropping down Hwy176 towards Tryon or down Hwy 25 into the Greenville Watershed.
